Have you even gone to the refrigerator or kitchen cabinet looking for something to eat, but you weren't real sure what you wanted? Some would say that's the way our spiritual life is much of the time until we realize that what we really hunger for is "The Bread of Life."
Most of us have an empty spot within us that we don't quite know how to fill so we start "throwing stuff" at it. We try popularity, we try money, we try busyness, we try buying and acquiring and accumulating. We just keep trying to find something that will satisfy us, but we don't really know what we want, so nothing seems to "fill the bill."
Jesus asks why we work so hard for stuff that perishes. We don't need the greatest part of what we've got; it just becomes more stuff to store and worry about losing or somebody stealing, and it doesn't acoomplish what we hope it will anyway, we still feel empty. Jesus says He is the true bread, the bread that will satisfy our cravings and desires as well as provide all that is needed for life.
Feeling a little empty? Maybe a little harried? A little overwhelmed by all the choices and not really sure what you want but know you need to do something? Come, join us, try the Bread of Life and see if life isn't different. See if He doesn't offer a perspective that you can live with and live with abundantly, without all the hassle, hustle and bustle of before.
Come, taste and see that the Lord is good!
Peace,
Pastor Carol
