"For unto us is born this day, in the city of David, a Savior who is Christ the Lord!" That is the incredible Good News of this holy season. Christ was born, is with us now, and will come again to perfect the world as it once had been.
I'm not sure what your situation is this Christmas, but you are not in it alone! You may have family and friends gathered round or you may be far from home, or missing one who is. You may have had a good year financially and there are presents everywhere, or it may have been a tough year and there aren't may "extras" to be had. Your health may be phenomenal or you may have recently received bad news about yourself or a loved one, maybe you are even "keeping vigil" this Christmas as a loved one is "returning home." Your children may be at that cute, idyllic stage or totally grown and good friends or they could be at that unbelievable "in between" and you're not sure you'll survive. The weather may be just perfect or you could be stranded in an airport or motel. You may have finished your decorating and baking earlier than ever, or there may not be much sign of "holiday" in your home.
You know what?? None of that matters! Christmas is here!! Christ the Lord has come! And we will never be alone again. Our hope, joy, peace, focus is not on us and what we can accomplish, but on what was done for us in the coming of the Savior, Jesus Christ. Life is forever different and we can live in that reality regardless of our external circumstances.
This season, may you be surrounded, and infused, with that incredible love and peace and may you know the joy of sharing it with others in whatever way you can.
Peace,
Pastor Carol
