Many of you know that Synod Assembly was this last weekend. Overall, it was a very quiet event. Nice to have a year of "non-controversy." The peaceful environment allowed even more time and energy to focus on the theme ("Living in God's Amazing Grace") and the Bible studies that were presented. All I can say is "Thank God I'm a Lutheran!"
As Lutherans we center our lives in grace: God's unconditional love for us shown in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus the Christ and poured out upon us by God's Spirit in the waters of Holy Baptism. We are soaked!! And because of our "wetness" we "walk wet in the world." What else can one do but "drip grace" when one is totally immersed in it??
I cannot imagine how else one could ever experience true freedom and joy in faith than to believe that we are not responsible for who and whose we are. I am a child of God, not by my own devices, or what I've accomplished, or based upon how much I grow and how "perfect" I become. I am a child of God, period!!! And so are you! What freedom to grow, to reach out, to risk, to succumb, to fail, to be forgiven. What "life giving" Good News!! Have you heard it?? Have you shared it??
We are children of God; free to live, love, share and care!!
Thanks be to God!
Peace,
Pastor Carol
