Wow! Is it hot!! Weatherman was talking about the "harvest weather forecast" as I was driving to work this morning. I even saw a few trees taking on a "yellow tinge" on the way to town the other day. School supplies are a part of the "sale items" in advertising flyers. How does that song go? "Time marches on; time marches on."
How often do we want to yell: "Stop! Wait! I haven't accomplished all I want to. I haven't enjoyed all the plans I've made. I'm not ready to be done with this and move to that." "Time marches on. Time marches on." Maybe that's why it's so important to set our priorities; there's so much we want to do, plan to do, and so little time to complete it.
I'll share a quotation from Rev. Richard Fairchild from yesterday's sermon: "Some things are temporary. Some things are eternal. Wisdom knows the difference." It's very easy to get "caught up in" the temporary, especially if we don't take the time and effort needed to stop and think, stop and worship, stop and pray. It's the devil's ploy to keep us too busy to think, too busy to worship, too busy to pray. Suddenly, time's up and we've not gotten around to what is most important. "Time marches on. Time marches on." "Some things are temporary. Some things are eternal. Wisdom knows the difference."
May God's Holy Spirit fill you with all wisdom in believing and focusing on the eternal.
Peace,
Pastor Carol
