I have spent the largest part of today putting together Worship Extensions for people to take on the road with them when they cannot worship with us.

We have passed through the season of Epiphany which focuses on light and revelation and have moved into Lent, but I am amazed that so many of the scriptures still deal with revelation, with "the light dawning" in people's lives about who this Jesus is and what He's all about.  But then, I'm not sure why I'm surprised.  The "age of discovery," of realization actually takes a lifetime.  Oh, sure, we come to know who Jesus is and know that we are safe in His care and keeping and that we are never alone, left to our own devices.  Yet, how often are we totally surprised and amazed when He shows Himself at work in a new and different way, a way that we haven't seen before, or even considered that He would use.  A way that often is not recognized in the moment, but only in hindsight do we see the hand of God at work for good in the events that have taken place.

Lent is a time of discovery!  We discover who we are and how much we are loved in spite of it.  We are brought face to face with the almighty and powerful God who chooses to deal with us in grace and humility.  We are reminded that His power was made known in weakness and that as His followers we need not try to be something or someone we are not.  We need only be who He has made us to be:  kind, considerate, compassionate, faithful servants.  The rewards may not be material, but as the Light dawns, we'll know a peace and contentment with life the world cannot give.

May "the Light dawn" for you in this Lenten season!

Peace,
